Letter from the Dean

Bonnie-Mathies-16-11-13.jpgWelcome to our Lake Campus website

Wright State University’s Lake Campus is a wonderful place to be. There are friendly and helpful staff, highly qualified and exciting faculty, plus engaged and active students. Our campus is evolving and changing as opportunities and challenges confront us. It continues to be an exciting time at the Lake Campus.

The Lake Campus was built by community spirit and is here today thanks to the diligent community members who felt the need for higher education in west central Ohio.  We are now a thriving part of the community aiming to give back to those who believe in the power of education.

Our faculty help build the foundation for your success, amidst the smaller campus community. They embrace the opportunity to get to know each student and find ways to motivate you to excel. Nearly all of our professors have Ph.D.’s in their fields.

We strive to offer our students a well-balanced education.  Whether it is being at a national competition, volunteering in local schools or studying abroad, our students take advantage of opportunities here at the Lake Campus.

The mechanical engineering program with a manufacturing focus continues to be a success and we are excited about the many opportunities for our students, faculty and local industries that are engaged in this endeavor. Agriculture, food science, graphics and law enforcement programs as well as technical classes are providing much-needed and requested academic options. The Lake Campus provides a full array of general education coursework for students pursuing bachelor's degrees. And, by the way, the Lake Campus will soon have nine bachelor's degrees that can be obtained totally here in Celina.

In conjunction with Wright State’s Raj Soin College of Business, Lake Campus students will be able to complete a four-year Bachelor of Science in Business degree beginning in the spring of 2015.  This AACSB international curriculum delivers a sound foundation for success in a business.

Campus housing has been available to our students since 2012.  Living on campus is the best way to get the full college experience.  Students enjoy the benefits of living close to campus, which means easier access to their classes, professors and advisors.  Knapke Villa and our new second building contain 12 townhouse-style apartments and stand on the shore of Grand Lake St. Marys.

Read enough to intrigue you? Come for a visit and say “hello.” We would love to see you.
