About the Credential Program in History

This program in teaching History is designed to provide graduate-level credentials to allow high school teachers to teach college-level history courses through College Credit Plus (CCP) in their high schools. In addition, teachers completing this program will meet the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) standards for eligibility to teach courses in Ohio public community colleges and universities. Credential/certificate courses will also count toward teachers’ licensure renewal.

Admission Requirements and Process

Secondary history teachers who wish to pursue the teaching credential/certificate must complete the following steps:

  • Apply through Wright State's Graduate School. The options for applying to the CCP certificate and credential programs are in the online application.

  • Submit an official transcript showing the award of a Master’s degree in any field, unless from Wright State.
  • Submit a statement of goals to be sought in the program, three letters of recommendation, and a writing sample.

The application form must be completed with all the required documents attached. The form when completed must be signed and dated. All application materials become the property of the Graduate School and cannot be returned.
