About the Program

Through study of animal science and agronomic concepts, you will gain a broad base of knowledge, applicable to all areas within the field of agriculture. You will learn to apply your knowledge to face real-world challenges and develop communication skills in written, oral, and digital outlets. 

The curriculum will expose you to a wide-range of knowledge, from planting and harvesting to marketing concepts and animal physiology to prepare you for whichever part of agriculture you pursue.

An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Agriculture can open doors to various careers, such as:

  • Ranch manager
  • Greenhouse technician
  • Crop consultant
  • Agricultural specialist
  • Agricultural sales representative
  • Soil scientist

When you earn an A.A.S. in Agriculture, you’ll have a solid foundation for various careers in the agriculture industry and related fields. You’ll gain practical skills and knowledge for roles in farming, agribusiness, agricultural sales, and more, while also having as a stepping stone, if you wish to pursue further education.

Real-World Experience

We arm you with the knowledge and experiences you need to transition from student to professional. You will gain hands-on experience through a variety of community-based programs, service-learning opportunities, internships, and research projects.

Academics and Curriculum

After earning the necessary 18 hours of Wright State’s core requirements, you will earn 31 credit hours of program-specific courses, and 11 credit hours of a general elective, totaling 60 credit hours to earn your diploma.

Admission

This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University.  Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.

Review the admission requirements and complete the admission application. Identify whether you will be majoring in agriculture.

If you are a current student and wish to change majors, submit a Major/Minor Change Request by logging in to WINGS, then select Student Academics under Your Launchpad. If you are an undecided/exploratory student, talk to your advisor about majoring in agriculture.
