About the Program

The Agricultural Program at the Lake Campus is committed to cultivating a dynamic learning environment that integrates animal science, agronomy, and agricultural business. Our mission is to equip students with a comprehensive foundation in agricultural principles through a balanced blend of scientific theory, practical skills, and real-world application. By fostering critical thinking, technical competency, and ethical leadership, we prepare graduates to excel across diverse sectors of the agricultural industry and to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of sustainable and resilient food systems.

Through the study of animal science and agronomic concepts, students will gain a broad base of knowledge applicable to all areas within the field of agriculture. You will learn to apply this knowledge to face real-world challenges and develop crucial communication skills in written, oral, and digital outlets. The comprehensive curriculum exposes students to a wide range of subjects, from planting and harvesting techniques to marketing concepts and animal physiology, ensuring graduates are prepared for whichever part of the agricultural industry they choose to pursue.

An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Agriculture can open doors to various careers, such as:

When you earn an A.A.S. in Agriculture, you will build a solid foundation in multiple areas of agriculture, preparing you for a wide variety of careers in the agriculture industry and related fields. You’ll gain practical skills and knowledge for roles in animal husbandry, agronomy, agribusiness, and more!  The A.A.S. program is also a fantastic steppingstone if you wish to pursue further education and smoothly transitions into our BTAS degree with a concentration in Agriculture.

Academics and Curriculum

After earning the necessary 18 hours of Wright State’s core requirements, you will earn 31 credit hours of program-specific courses, and 11 credit hours of a general elective, totaling 60 credit hours to earn your diploma.

Admission

This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University.  Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.

Review the admission requirements and complete the admission application. Identify whether you will be majoring in agriculture.

If you are a current student and wish to change majors, submit a Major/Minor Change Request by logging in to WINGS, then select Student Academics under Your Launchpad. If you are an undecided/exploratory student, talk to your advisor about majoring in agriculture.
