Bonnie Mathies, who as dean helped spur the dramatic growth of Wright State University’s Lake Campus after a long career at the Dayton Campus, has passed away.

Services are pending for Mathies, who died Aug. 7, and these arrangements will be announced at a later date.

University researchers from around the nation joined water quality scientists at Wright State University’s Lake Campus to deepen their understanding of harmful algal blooms.

Research teams from the University of Michigan, Cornell, Virginia Tech and Wayne State gathered at the Lake Campus the week of Aug. 5 to conduct experiments on Grand Lake St. Marys.

A nationally known wetlands expert at Wright State University’s Lake Campus met with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and a high-level working group on water quality.

Steve Jacquemin, associate professor of biology and research coordinator, was invited to the governor’s residence on July 19 to discuss how wetlands can help reduce nutrient runoff and harmful algal blooms.

CELINA, OH – The Wright State University – Lake Campus is hosting a Corrections Academy during the month of June. The cadets in the academy are current correction officers with Auglaize, Allen, Darke, Mercer, Shelby and Van Wert Counties. Once hired, correction officers have one year to attend a corrections academy which consists of 143 hours of instruction covering topics centered around the handling of inmates.
