Lake Campus Celebrates 53rd Commencement Ceremony

Celina, OH – Wright State University–Lake Campus held its 53rd Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Romer’s Catering Ballroom in Celina, OH. Degrees conferred upon the 170 members of the Class of 2025 included 127 bachelor’s degrees and 43 associate degrees. Dr. Andrea Faber, Lake Campus Vice Provost & Chief Administrative Officer, presided over the ceremony.

Over 100 graduating students participated in the ceremony, where graduate Gwyneth Elking of St. Henry provided student remarks. Elking earned a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing, achieved a perfect GPA in her studies, and was nominated by the Lake Campus faculty. Elking was also the recipient of the 2025 Lake Campus Top Scholar.

Wright State University President Sue Edwards provided the Commencement Address.

In her address, President Edwards reminded students that their time at Wright State University–Lake Campus has prepared them for the future and to set their sights high.

“Dream boldly and without fear. The world needs your innovation, your perspective and most importantly your compassion,” said Edwards.

As the recipient of 2025 Lake Campus Outstanding Alumna Award, Lucy Staugler also provided remarks to the graduating class of 2025. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Lake Campus. After a 33-year career in education working both as a teacher and guidance counselor, Staugler is now retired and serves as the Executive Director of the Grand Lake Area Literature Festival.

The Mercer County Firefighters Honor Guard presented ­the colors for the event. Dr. Dane Daniel, Pianist and Associate Professor of History and Sam Gudorf, Lake Campus Alumnus, provided music for the evening.
