Area High School Guidance Counselors Enjoy Luncheon at The Lake Campus

Van Wert counselor Connie Ainsworth is scholarship winner at annual event

CELINA, Ohio – Wright State University – Lake Campus recently welcomed twenty-four guidance counselors from high schools in the Lake Campus area for an annual guidance counselor luncheon.  The event gave guidance counselors the opportunity to see campus and learn about scholarships, programs and new initiatives.

Jay Albayyari, Dean of the Lake Campus, introduced himself to the counselors and welcomed them to campus.  Carol Jones, Program Facilitator of the campus’s Business Enterprise Center (BEC), gave a presentation to the counselors about the various programs available through the BEC. She also discussed the SkillsTrac program, which offers students manufacturing training and the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree.  Ray Lufkin, Manufacturing Training Coordinator, then gave the counselors a tour of the BEC. Dennis Hance, Assistant Director of Lake Campus Engineering, showed the new classrooms and labs used for coursework in the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree, which can be completed in its entirety at the Lake Campus.

Over $200,000 in scholarships are available for the 2016-2017 academic year at the Lake Campus.  The Western Ohio Educational Foundation (WOEF) scholarships are available for undergraduate, new, current, returning and transfer students who attend the Lake Campus and enroll for the required credit hours.  Application packets for these scholarships are available at https://lake.wright.edu/scholarships and are due March 1, 2016.
