Lake Campus Commencement Ceremony Recognizes 127 Degree Recipients

CELINA, OH – Wright State University – Lake Campus held its 44th Annual Commencement ceremony on Friday evening, April 29, 2016. Degrees conferred upon the 127 members of the Class of 2016 included 61 associate degrees, 66 bachelor’s degrees, and three students earned both an associate and bachelor’s during this academic year. Dr. David R. Hopkins, President of Wright State University, provided the commencement address and Lake Campus Dean Jay Albayyari presided over the ceremony.

Nearly 40 of the graduating students participated in the ceremony, where graduates and sisters Tamara Adkins and Jennifer Fritsch, Greenville, were the evening’s speakers. Adkins earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Her sister, Jennifer Fritsch, received her Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies degree in Graphic Design and Visual Media.

In their tandem speech they discussed the unconventional path they took to earn their bachelor’s degrees. “When we received our corresponding associate degrees from a community college, we knew we wanted to receive our bachelor’s degree in our dream field of study. Wright State made it possible for us to achieve our dreams, just like they helped each one of you achieve the dream you had,” Fritsch said.

Former Lake Campus Student Government Senator Corey Yoder addressed the graduates about their service to the community and the university. Jared Springer, representing the Lake Campus Alumni Network, also provided remarks for graduates and guests. Dr. Dane Daniel, Associate Professor of History, and Lake Campus alumnus Samuel Gudorf provided music for the evening, and the Mercer County Firefighters Honor Guard presented the colors for the event.
