CELINA, OH – Wright State University - Lake Campus Athletics is now a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association is a national organization that exists to provide quality athletic competition on a regional and national level. The USCAA focuses specifically on smaller institutions of higher learning and their student-athletes. The primary goal of the USCAA is to provide members with an association that is devoted to the growth, vision, and values of their institutions. The USCAA’s focus is to enhance member institutions through athletics, by conducting national championships, naming All-Americans, recognizing scholar athletes, and promoting USCAA member schools.
The decision to change conferences from the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) comes at a time where the Lake Campus is experiencing exponential growth in areas such as academic programs and capital improvements.
"Overall, the Athletic programs at the Lake Campus are very strong and are currently in a very good position to continue to strengthen,” states Trent Kline, Athletic Director. "In assessing the current status of the athletic programs at the Lake Campus and, as Wright State and the Lake Campus embark on a Capital Campaign to support strategic initiatives that include growth in athletics, we plan to solidify the future of Wright State–Lake Campus Athletics and are excited about the opportunity to compete at a higher level.”
In addition to the new conference membership, volleyball will be returning to the list of athletics the Lake Campus will be offering for the 2015-2016 year. Michelle Hardesty will be the Head Volleyball Coach. She brings many years of coaching experience at the club level.
Athletic Director Trent Kline is excited to bring back volleyball to the Lake Campus, “There are a large number of very high quality high school programs in the area and we are very confident that we can create a competitive program very quickly. The addition of a quality coach in Michelle (Hardesty), who has strong ties to players in the area, will help us to field a competitive team as early as year one.”
