Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

On this page:

Why Choose Liberal Studies?

This program is designed if you are seeking a more interdisciplinary educational experience than is available with other majors. The liberal studies degree prepares students for a variety of careers by designing your own degree program—one broad in scope, narrow in concentration, and flexible enough to draw courses from all of the departments and programs. The liberal studies degree is ideal if your interests encompass more than one liberal arts field and you desire greater flexibility in your program. If you want to change your major but still graduate in a timely manner, or if you are a transfer student who might benefit from an interdisciplinary curriculum, consider liberal studies. This major allows you to tailor your academic program to your needs and interests across a wide range of disciplines.

Careers

The program can serve as a pre-law curriculum. English, communication, political science, and history courses can help prepare students for careers in journalism or other media. Arts courses can be combined with other disciplines to prepare people for careers working in museums or art galleries in research, marketing, or management capacities. Others could use the degree to prepare for careers in library science or in the publishing industry.

Real-World Experience

We arm you with the knowledge and experiences you need to transition from student to professional. You will gain hands-on experience through a variety of community-based programs, service-learning opportunities, internships, and research projects.
